Built on top of crushed stone, asphalt can be enhanced with coatings or sealants for improved player traction. While more cost-effective than concrete, its longevity may be shorter, necessitating more regular resurfacing or repairs.
Reinforced concrete, integrated with steel reinforcements, is a popular option for pickleball courts. This composite material enhances the court’s resilience, making it adept for rigorous play and varied climatic conditions. Though typically more economical than post-tension concrete, reinforced courts may require more maintenance over time.
